Panama Jackson, Co-Founder of Very Smart Brothas, recalls developing his writing platform and how he stayed true to himself through it all. Jackson learned the ways of hustling early as he always had his hand in different industries. This never deterred him from writing as he wrote freelance in his spare time, eventually catching the eyes of his future business partners Damon Young and Liz Burr. Together, they began building out what is now known as Very Smart Brothas, a culture blog committed to offering real-life, uncut perspectives through the eyes of black men. A little over nine years and hundreds of articles later, this point of view helped VSB garner national attention and land them multiple partnerships, including their latest with The Root. Today, VSB has drawn millions of unique visitors to their site while Panama and Damon continue to write and utilize their platform to influence the culture within different industry spaces.
